Dragon Ladies Don’t Weep (Taiwan 2023) – Facebook

Amazing. Still ringing in my mind.

My Self in That Moment (2022) – Facebook

I have had a few days to reflect on Saturday’s performance. I sat in the Substation in the dark mesmerised – visually, aurally, and intellectually. My jaw was on the ground for a lot of the second half because I was overloaded with the poetry of this work. I enjoyed the space you gave us to fill between the ideas presented – giving us the chance to interpret the work from our own unique perspective – is there is even a word for the opposite of didactic? I learnt a lot from the work, both artistically and as a human. Thanks for coming together as a team to present something so personal and universal.

Saw the new work by ( at ) ChamberMadeOrg at ( at ) TheSubstation last night. It was awesome and weird and everything you want from a new Chamber Made creation. One of Melbourne’s true gems. On til tomorrow night!

I enjoyed the conversations between the artists and demonstrations of the tools and techniques used in the show. I also enjoyed seeing the show after attending the Salon because it felt like having the extra technical and conceptual context enhanced the experience of the show.

Salon: SYSTEM_ERROR (2021) – Audience survey

I enjoyed the interaction amongst the work’s creators, particularly the spontaneous demonstration of the “instrument” at the centre of the work. Also, the very well-informed questions from the audience which served to illuminate many of the technical aspects of the work.

Salon: SYSTEM_ERROR (2021) – Audience survey

The Salon was very revealing of the time, discipline and resources required to pursue an artistic idea to its fullest realisation.

I appreciate the close contact between artist and audience.

Best show this year.

I found this event to be incredibly generous – from both the artists in sharing their artistic processes as well as from Chamber Made in creating professional and considered documentation.

Little Operations: Feeling Counts (2020) – Audience survey

Wonderful discussion of how you might make a sonic portrait of and with Margaret Leng Tan: “the essence of who I am” in music.

Salon: Dragon Ladies Don’t Weep (2020) – Twitter

It was an inspiring and though provoking discussion about pending social issues and technological/ artistic philosophy.

Salon: Future Human (2019) – Audience survey

This was my first Salon and I thoroughly enjoyed it and would be keen to attend more in the future.

Salon: Future Human (2019) – Audience survey

The panel was articulate and well-prepared, presenting thoughtful insights on the topic. The conversation and ideas it provoked continued well after the Salon ended.

Characterised by a highly ritualised format, chanting and dissonant soundscape, Chamber Made’s Dybbuks is both an entrancing, eerie and unsettling journey through spiritual possession and purification that forms a powerfully visceral theatrical experience.

Dybbuks (2018) – Twitter

Just saw this. Visceral is putting it mildly- an extraordinary coming together of these female artists. I was utterly possessed! Don’t miss it!

Dybbuks (2018) – Facebook

I saw the first preview of Samara Hersch’s Dybbuks presented by Chamber Made and Theatre Works on Tuesday night & it was mind blowing – beautiful, ecstatic, moving & totally original. LOVED IT SO MUCH!!! Dybbuks (2018) – Facebook

It was wonderful to experience the work so intimately and be able to openly discuss our opinions in a friendly environment. I love seeing and discussing works in development. I found this to be a very humbling experience.

Little Operations: The Lost Art of Listening (2018) – Audience survey

Fascinating. The complexity of the many channels of sound was thought provoking.

The sound created was beautiful, restrained, tonal. Being close to the performer assisted in concentrating on the music.
