Vahideh Eisaei
Vahideh Eisaei is an Iranian-Australia Artist and Qanun player. Based in Melbourne, Australia, Vahideh has performed with many ensembles throughout Europe, the Middle East and Australia. She recently performed in the critically acclaimed theatre work “The Audition”, a collaboration between Outer Urban Projects and La Mama theatre. She has composed for Qanun and other instruments including Cello and Ud. Vahideh has recorded a new work composed for her and The Letter String Quartet, with support from the Australia Council for the Arts: a rare example of Australian composition for Persian Qanun. Vahideh holds a master of music from the University of Western Australia. Her music and improvisation are influenced by her experience as a social worker, and her migration journey to Australia.
Vahideh works with multicultural organisations for migrant and refugee communities in Victoria on prevention of violence against women and family violence intervention. She has participated in advisory groups and leadership programs, advocating for migrant and refugee communities, has been recently appointed as a member of Victorian Multicultural Commission Reginal Advisory Council, currently works at Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health (MCWH) and has been producing resources including Podcasts on supporting migrant and refugee communities.
