Noemie Huttner-Koros
Noemie Huttner-Koros is a performance-maker, writer, dramaturg and community organiser based on Wurundjeri country in Naarm/Melbourne. Noemie’s work often engages with sites and histories where queer culture, ecological crisis and composting occur – and is driven by a deep belief in the social, political and joy-giving possibilities of performance, gathering and storytelling. Their work has taken place in theatres, galleries and out on the streets. Shows include: Mother of Compost (M1 Singapore Fringe Festival, Melbourne Fringe nominee Best Theatre 2023), The Lion Never Sleeps (Australian Book Review’s Arts Highlights of 2019, Performing Arts WA awards 2021), The Trouble-Makers (You Are Here Festival 2019, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts residency) & Democracy Repair Services (The Blue Room Theatre 2023). The Lion Never Sleeps, a walking performance about Perth’s queer history and the community response to the AIDS crisis, was named in Australian Book Review’s ‘Arts Highlights of 2019’.
In 2023, Noemie was the Graduate Dramaturg at Red Stitch Actors Theatre and worked as a dramaturg on the Australian premiere of Shhh by Clare Barron, directed by Emma Valente. They are a graduate of the Bachelor of Performing Arts (Performance Making) at WAAPA and Master of Theatre (Dramaturgy) at VCA. Noemie was a co-founder of Arts & Cultural Workers for Climate Action in WA and is currently on the Global Youth Committee for the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership.
Noemie was the winner of the 2020 Venie Holmgren Environmental Poetry Prize, 2021 Western Australian Young Environmentalist of the Year and 2023 Best Writing award at the Blue Room Theatre for Democracy Repair Services.
