Leonie Van Eyk
Leonie Van Eyk is a multidisciplinary artist, specialising in filmmaking, photography, puppetry, and stage/project management within theatre, dance, documentary, and community-based projects. A key collaborator and creative force, Leonie’s work is a tapestry of short films that document the artistic practices of community groups, revealing the unfolding processes of personal artworks.
As a filmmaker, Leonie is an embedded observer, capturing the essence of creative journeys and distilling them into compelling narratives. She works closely with clients to craft storylines or document processes, skilfully filming and editing the footage into polished pieces.
Her puppetry experience spans large-scale puppetry, Bunraku, shadow performance, and multimedia shows. Leonie has collaborated with renowned companies including Black Hole Theatre, Weave Movement Theatre, Arts Project Australia, Arts Access Victoria, and Snuff Puppets. She has also contributed to The Village Festival at Falls Festivals and led a large-scale installation with live stream projections for Newcastle’s Museum celebration.
Leonie is driven by a passion to create, devise, and implement performances that genuinely benefit communities. Her strengths lie in communication, networking, collaboration, conceptual and strategic thinking, and project management.
