Klare Lanson is a writer and performance poet who lives on Djaara Country. Working in the arts for three decades, her current practice utilises online participatory encounters and socially engaged forms of network listening. Klare is co-editor of The Routledge Companion to Mobile Media Art (2020), worked with Punctum as performer and critical reviewer, has written for Realtime Arts, Australian Poetry Journal, Solid Air, the-phone-book.com, Cordite Poetry Review, Artlink, and was co-editor of the literary anthology Going Down Swinging. As performance poet, Klare has performed for Liquid Architecture, Make it Up Club, Undue Noise, Melbourne Arts Festival, Melbourne Writers Festival, and collaborated with Clocked Out on #wanderingcloud for Castlemaine Festival and Queensland Poetry Festival. Her early noughties spoken word electronica album Every Third Breath was produced by Cornel Wilczek and toured internationally. Curatorial practice in the 1990s includes directing Umbrella Studios, a contemporary arts organisation in North Queensland, working on the visual arts program for the 1996 Adelaide Festival (dir Barry Kosky), directing Sym Choon Gallery in Adelaide, and co-curating an artist run space HardLines. Current PhD research moves through mobile media studies and the poetics of sound and listening, employing creative practice ethnography to investigate tensions of networked entanglement in relation to home, place, and digital versions of self.
