Merinda Dias-Jayasinha (she/her) is a creative artist and vocalist whose practice explores heartfelt and lyrical storytelling, genre-blurring compositions and the melodic and textural potential of the voice. Born and raised in Meanjin with Sri Lankan/Australian heritage, Dias-Jayasinha explores her artistry, impressive vocal ability, and versatility through a number of ensembles and projects and delights in collaboration, connection, and community.

Throughout her Little Operations, Merinda will explore themes of identity, race, and memory, drawing on her and her sisters’ different experiences of the world. Building upon previous works The grey area and The blue area, Merinda plans to extend her artistic practice through sound and visual elements. She hopes this development is another step towards articulating and unravelling her identity and contributes to how she continues to understand and proudly hold her heritage.

We look forward to sharing more details about Merinda’s development including a public showing / sharing at some point early in 2024.
