Battistelli’s ‘Opera’ is unusual in more ways than one. Teorema (Italian for ‘Theorem’) is based on Pasolini’s film made in 1968. A charming and mysterious boarder takes up in the house of a well-to-do family. One by one, the boarder seduces and is seduced by every member of the household – mother, father, daughter and son – and not least the household maid. The effect is profound. A parable for our times.
