Still from 'Persona'

We are very pleased to present a free screening of ‘Persona’, the 1966 film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman and starring Bibi Andersson and Liv Ullmann.

Described by Susan Sontag as Bergman’s masterpiece, ‘Persona’ focuses on the relationship between a young nurse, Alma (Andersson) and her patient, stage actress Elisabet Vogler (Ullmann) who has been rendered mute for no apparent medical reason.

Our current work Another Other uses ‘Persona’ as its starting point, cannibalising the temporal structure of the film while shedding its dramatic content. The screening of this film therefore offers our audience an opportunity to dive deeper into this key source material before the 8pm performance.

The screening is free, but you must RSVP to secure your place.

This film is screened with permission from the Ingmar Bergman Estate and Svenska Filmindustri, via the Australian National Film and Sound Archive.
